Flower Market

Just love this flower shot!  I am a sucker, or should I say....I have a weakness for flowers.  Which I guess is a good thing :)

Simple and Elegant

Who would of guessed that a white vase, curly willow with red glass balls hanging off of the branches could be so striking?  Lovin it!

Digging the map side table

This is extremely cute and I love the way the color of the water in the map blends with the color of the table.

Candle Holders filled with colored water

For some reason, I just think this would be cool to do.  I have a few of these glass vases myself and never thought to put a candle in them!  I also think that this would be neat to do with some clear empty wine bottles filled with food coloring.

I heart British stuff

I'm 'luvin this look. Whimsical and fun! I'm partial to it, and it's probably because I have a little bit of that British blood....  but one of these days, I want to salvage an old dresser and make one of these.  Hail to the Queen!

DIY; Wallpaper Lantern

This is made from a piece of wallpaper. Did you know, wallpaper is  a great craft material? This particular one is from Monsoon Home and is decorated with birds, peonies, leaves and butterflies.

Start by cutting out the outer lines of the flower, but also some of the petals in the middle where needed. You can also cut out the birds head and neck. Unfortunately the bird is just half but it is still pretty to use, try cutting a scrap piece of leaf out and then placing it over the area of the bird that is cut off, as if it is peeking out from behind the leaf or leaves.

Then roll the paper around a glass jar and used a glue gun to fix it at the back.

Luminaries are fun to make!  For this project, inside the jar, we used a tea light with batteries for a soft glow.

Old Levi jeans turned into a cute designer skirt!

Okay, so I have been eyeing up some cute designer jeans in the store, you know, the ones with all the bling bling and they cost an arm and a leg (minimum of about $100).  So, I look at them, look in my wallet and walk away from the rack that they are displayed on.  My mind starts racing, and I'm saying to myself "I think I can make that for next to nothing."

I've got some old blue jeans with the crotch worn out from the fabric getting thread worn.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, so yeah, maybe also from my thighs rubbing together because I am over weight!  That is besides the point.  I was going to toss them in the garbage and thought, na, I can recycle these silly things somehow either into a bag or skirt.  So here is my attempt at making my very own designer skirt.  I actually like it a lot and get a lot of compliments on it. Eventually if I get the balls, I would like to try one with an ombre kind of look. You need to be a little sewing savvy in order to follow my directions because they are not extremely detailed.  Forgive me if they are too vague to follow along but for the most part, you get the idea. Click on the images for a large view of directions.
Also, once I get some free time, I will give more detail  on how you can bling bling the back pockets and make your very own as well!

Side note; for the panel on the back of the skirt, I made the vertical panel seam follow the angle of the pockets. Also once you have trimmed up your panels on the outside, you can go inside the skirt and trim off any excess fabric that won't be needed. So when I get some more free time, I will show you how I did the jeweled pockets...

Giant Ice Marbles

I am so going to do this awesome idea this coming winter!  I found this and think it is so cool!  Fill balloons with water and add food coloring, once frozen cut the balloons off & they look like giant marbles.

The more original a discovery, the more obvious it seems afterward.

Doily Do

Well, well, well... I am thinking this is so darn cute!  I am so glad that I tucked those doilies away instead of giving to Goodwill because I just could not figure out where to use them in my decor and so I thought I had grown out of them.  But seriously, I now need to drag them back out to do this gorgeous table runner idea! Cha-ching, baby. I'm  'likin 'lovin it against the darker wood.  Black doilies sure would look nice on a glass table or lighter wood.  Love this idea for Christmas too!  So versatile...

One more thought, you know those doilies that have the edging with pastel colors?  I think I've seen them in my travels with rosettes on the edge too. Now, wouldn't those be cute for Easter? Sweet!  Oh, I just had another idea... tea dyed ones for Thanksgiving accented with mini pumpkins and gourds.  The possibilities are endless!

Farmer's Market Find

I ventured off to the farmer's market this morning.  And wouldn't you know it, I stumbled onto a booth that had hand crafted wood bowls.  Okay, so I was not looking for a bowl, but how can one pass up a cute little bowl like this for a whopping whole $4?  Brand new on top of it, seriously?  It was a must have for that price.   I thought to myself "self, you need one of these to put on your night stand so that your earrings have a safe haven to rest while you are dancing with the sugar plum fairies."  Sold, it came home with me!  I love the grains, and markings, plus the simplicity of the wood bowl.  The ladies name is Bea who makes the wood bowls.  This particular bowl that I purchased is made out of maple.  Bea had a large table of these cute wood bowls, in assorted wood varieties from all over the world at an incredible price.  Thanks Bea, it is so me!
